The Fugitive

It's a rainy day and a lonely "LINUX" using hacker is stearing at the screen of his AMD Athlon PC. The flat is dark, printouts lay everywhere, half a pizza and a box of donuts are on the desk. Suddenly a window appears on the screen with a ping message from an unknown host. This is like a provocation for him, so he starts searching where the message comes from. Without his knowledge he enters the server of the New York mafia. He looks for a clue where he is and opens a document. The hacker is shocked when he starts reading the text. It is unbelievable, now he realizes that he has broken into a mafia server and has found a document with evidences for a jewel-rob in the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in which famous government members are involved. He becomes afraid and hectical, so that he doesn't recognize that the mafia takes notice of him. He calls the police immediately and sends them a copy of the important document. But a corrupt police officer, who is paid by the mafia, was informed, and destroys the document with the evidences. He puts an other document on this place, so that it seems as if the hacker is involved in the crime, the only perpetrator.

On the next morning the hacker was a little bit surprised when he reads an article of the biggest jewel-rob in US history. But the picture of the perpetrator - that is ... his face. No it can't be, he is that one who has warned the police - but ... but the police ... is also ... involved !!! And so the mafia is also informed about his proofs. - He is in danger ! Without thinking he leaves the house only taking with him a copy of the fatal document, a laptop, some money and his cheque card. In hectic he jumps in his car and wants to drive away. But suddenly he watches a big, black-colored saloon car. He gets nervous and hides inside the car. A few minutes later the saloon car disappears as fast as it has come. Then ... a loud noise. He looks up and sees his appartment in flames. Horrified he starts the engine and drives away.

Driving along Madison Avenue he starts thinking about what a wonderful city he is leaving. It isn't possible: 18 million inhabitants and he out of all people has problems with the mafia. This can't be very good for his health. Perhaps he won't see the the 411m high World Trade Center where more than 50000 people work, the Statue of Liberty and the beautiful Washington Bridge again. He will also miss relaxing in Central Park. Crossing the Bronx he decides to drive to his parents in Philadelphia, a city with about 5 million inhabitants, which has been the capital of the USA from 1790 till 1800. Founded by William Penn in 1682 today this city is famous for its Independence Hall and Congress Hall two old building made of brick. Here he might go underground.

He drives along a lonely street in a suburb of Philadelphia at midnight. In front of his parents house he stops the car and walks right through the front garden. Somewhere in the neighbourhood a dog barks. Arriving at the front door he knocks once ... he knocks twice, but nothing happens. He runs to the back door, sees the open door and goes inside the house. But what does he have to see in the twilight? What a cruel murder! His father is hanged up on his own tie and what about his mother? He finds her in the kitchen killed by a spoon in her eye. He can't believe what he sees and runs crying out of the house. On the fence he finds a message from the mafia. Reading that he can't escape anymore and that he has to pay for his foolish doing he breaks down.

The next morning the sound of a police siren wakes him up and in the last moment he runs away to escape a possible arrest. After running through a small forest he comes to a street. Running along the street he notices a car driving slowly behind him. When he turns around a member of his LINUX user group, a beautiful and fair-haired women who he is in love with. She wants him to get in her car and tells him that she wants to help him because she believes that he is innocent. He does what she tells him and both drive away fast.

Their way leads them to Atlanta, the capital of Georgia with about 425,000 inhabitants. Here they hope to find some friedly hackers and more information about the people hunting them. During the drive he tells her the truth about what has happened. While they are talking they don't take notice of the big, black-colored saloon car following them. In the center of Atlanta they have to stop to refill the fuel tank at a gas station. After paying they return to the car. But the woman has a strange feeling. By turning around the key in the lock she hears a silent noise like »peep peep peep«. She looks under the car and catches sight of a bomb. The display shows 30 seconds till detonation. So she started to scream and both run away in time to escape the blast which kills five people at the gas station.

Fortunately they find some friends where they can stay during the night. Their friends advise them to go to New Orleans and give them the adress of a very specified hacker who can probably help them. They hack into the compter of a car hire service and organise a motorbike.

Then they drive to New Orleans the city in the delta of the Mississippi. Founded by LaSalle in 1718 it is today a very important international harbour. It is not only famous for the New-Orleans-Jazz but also for Saint Louis Cathedral and the Lousiana Superdome. And here they hope to find the person who might solve all their problems. After arriving in New Orleans she connects her notebook to the internet in a public phone box. She checks her e-mail account and finds a message from the man who wants to help them. He wants to meet them IRL (in real life) in the shopping mall. They arrive there in the late afternoon when most people go shopping. But they don’t know that the mafia also controls her e-mail account and sends a killer to the shopping center. When they arrive there, they look around and see a man waiting in a corner. They walk straight to him but the blamed hacker recognizes a man with sunglasses, a trench coat and a violin case. A split second later this man takes an UZI machine pistol out of his violin case and starts to fire. With his excelent reaction the hacker saves the life of his girlfriend. But the hacker who wanted to help them is shot down. Many other innocent people break down and fall on the hard floor. More than 50 people died or were wounded. The hacker and his girlfriend can escape to the stairs and run away through the backyard. In their panic they drive away. After they calmed down they decide to drive to San Francisco. Meeting a hacker friend being still alive there is their last chance to get out of this disaster. After a few terrible days on the road they arrive in San Francisco, the city which was founded by missionaries in 1766 today having a population of about 4.3 million. It is famous for the Golden Gate Bridge and the Cable Cars, but our two heroes can’t visit all these sights. They drive to the house of their friend in a suburb of San Francisco. But they don’t know that the police observe all the people the two have had contact with. When they walk into the house they find their last chance laying in his own blood. This picture is so unbelievable bloody and shocking that both can‘t move anymore. A few minutes later they hear the sound of a tank driving in direction of the house. They look out of the window and see at least 100 police officers. Suddenly they start to fire. Bullets and granats fly through the windows. They feel like in the 3rd world war - a real nightmare.

Suddenly a strong and sharp voice appears who forces them to come for lunch. It was their mother. So they finished the computer game and shut down the computer.
